Tell me about your background. I didn't have the body type or athletic experience when I started my fitness journey at the age of 14 because my tennis coach told me I was overweight, including all the subtle teasing by friends & family, which was dimming my light. The only way I knew how to change the situation was to start exercising. So I turned on the radio and started doing jumping jacks, high knees etc. to Bollywood songs. I remember feeling in control, empowered and really enjoying that feeling of catching my breath and the sweat! And I haven't stopped since then through all the ups and downs especially after postpartum with the birth of both my daughters. After spending 15 years in Corporate Marketing, I decided it was time to share my love for fitness and wellness with the World.

I am now a NASM certified Personal Trainer, also certified to teach BollyX, Mat Pilates, Zumba, HIIT and AquaFit. I currently teach all different fitness formats in Private and Group sessions, Virtually and local Gyms in Dallas, TX.

What is BollyX? What inspired you to be a BollyX instructor? BollyX is a Bollywood-inspired dance-fitness program that combines dynamic choreography with the hottest music from around the world. It's a 60-minute cardio workout that cycles between higher and lower-intensity dance sequences to get you moving, sweating, and smiling. No equipment required. The inspiration to be a BollyX instructor was the BollyX Community because there's no other Community like BollyX! As an Instructor, I value the support, resources, the inclusivity & the feeling of belonging to an extended family that BollyX provides, which makes it so much more meaningful and fulfilling.

Why is Indian dance important to you? Bollywood is such an integral part of the Indian culture and best represented through music & dance. The joy that comes through the expression of the words guarantees smiles and positive vibes.

Do you have any advice for those new to Indian dance? My best advice for anyone new to Indian dance is to just feel the music and hop those shoulders.
